A Notary You Can Trust

I'm Amy Hill, your local mobile notary. A Power of Attorney is one of the most significant documents you'll ever sign — you're entrusting someone else with real authority over your financial or medical decisions. That's not something I take lightly.

As an NNA and LSS certified notary, I'm trained to handle sensitive signings like this with the care and attention they deserve — confirming identity, checking for signing capacity, and making sure the document is executed correctly under California law. I'm also bonded, E&O insured, and background checked, so you and your family can feel confident inviting me into your home, a hospital room, or a care facility for a moment this important.

As a member of the National Aging in Place Council, I have a particular passion for helping families navigate POA signings for aging parents and loved ones — with patience, respect, and zero rush.

For Individuals and Families

Setting up a POA for yourself or a loved one often comes with a lot on your mind already. I keep my part simple and unhurried.

What you can count on:

  • In-home, hospital, or care facility visits - wherever is most comfortable for the signer
  • A calm, patient process, especially important for elderly or medically vulnerable singers
  • Careful conformation that the signer understands and is signing willingly, as required by California law
  • Flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and short-notice appointments
  • Clear communication with family members coordinating the signing

For Attorneys & Law Offices

When your client needs a document notarized outside your office - due to mobility, location, or timing - I can complete the signing on your behalf and return it promptly.

What you can count on:

  • Reliable, on-time appointments at the location your client needs
  • Careful review of signatures, initials, and notarial certificates before leaving
  • Professional representation of your office during the signing
  • Fast return of completed, notarized documents
  • Experience with durable, medical, financial, and springing POA documents

If you'd like to add a dependable mobile notary to your referral list for client who can't come to you, I'd welcome the opportunity to work together.

What to Expect at the Appointment

Power of Attorney documents carry real legal weight — you're granting someone else the authority to make decisions on your behalf, whether financial, medical, or both. Because of that, I take a few extra steps beyond a standard notarization:

  • ID Verification — I'll confirm your identity using a valid, government-issued photo ID, as required by California law for every notarization.
  • Capacity Check — Before notarizing, I need to be confident that you understand what you're signing and are doing so knowingly, willingly, and without pressure from anyone else in the room. This isn't a medical or legal evaluation — just a straightforward conversation to confirm you're aware of the document's purpose and are signing of your own free will. If I have concerns about capacity or undue influence, I may need to pause or decline the signing, in accordance with my duties as a notary.
  • Privacy During Signing — For POA and similar documents, I may ask to speak with you alone for a moment, even if family members or caregivers are present. This is a standard, routine part of protecting you — not a reflection on anyone in the room.
  • Document Review — I'll confirm all required fields are complete and that you're signing (and initialing, if applicable) in the correct places, though I can't provide legal advice on the document's content.
  • Notarization — Once everything is confirmed, I'll complete the appropriate notarial certificate — typically an acknowledgment — and notarize your signature according to California law.

My goal is to make sure your Power of Attorney is signed correctly, that you feel comfortable throughout the process, and that the document will hold up when it matters most.
