This is a straightforward conversation, not a medical or legal evaluation — but it's an important step I take seriously, especially for documents like trusts and that carry lasting consequences. If I have concerns about capacity or undue influence, I may need to pause or decline the signing, consistent with my duties as a notary.
• Privacy During Signing — I may ask to speak with you alone for a portion of the signing, even if family members, caregivers, or advisors are present. This is a standard safeguard for estate documents — not a reflection on anyone in the room — and helps ensure your decisions are truly your own.
